Hinge is free, but you can pay for extra features. As a dating app member, you are free to use all its contact features. It costs nothing to send messages, comments, or likes.

But is the free version of Hinge limited to the point where you can’t even message other users like in other apps.

Online dating software’s most basic versions are totally free.

But some have better benefits than others.

You can match and connect with users on the dating app that is intended to be deleted. The most notable free feature is the ability to match with another user, done with the help of a like.

Hinge differs from the majority of well-known dating apps in that it does not use swiping. Hinge did for a while before deciding to remove the choice in 2016.

Users communicate with one another by liking instead of swiping. While scrolling through profiles -or someone’s “story” as You have the option to like and comment on another user’s photo or their written response to a list of questions users are posed when filling out their stories, according to Hinge.

Once you’ve expressed interest in another user, that person will be informed and given the chance to respond.

There is no doubt that Hinge is free to use. It’s certainly not a requirement, nor is using the free version a “trial.” Hinge is available for as much use as you like without costing anything. There are restrictions, though.

If you’ve used Tinder Gold or the Bumble Beeline, you would know how this works. On Hinge, you are limited to only seeing the most recent person who has liked your profile. Every other profile will be obscured.

You must buy the Preferred membership in order to see these profiles. With the membership, you will be able to view and like/dislike every single profile that has already liked you.

With the paid preferred membership you can unlock some preferences that are a little more in-depth. You will be able to filter people based on their height or based on how many children they want.

Unlimited Likes

As I mentioned earlier, on Hinge you only have 10 likes a day to play with, but if you upgrade to the preferred membership you will have unlimited likes. Right, more matches mean more likes.

How to Set Up Preferred Membership

Towards the bottom of your settings page within the app, you will see a small box advertising the preferred membership, if you click on this you will be able to see your current pricing in your location.

Alternatively, if you run out of your daily limit of 10 likes, you will see a box appear a the top of your screen asking you to upgrade, this will also work.

Can You Get Matches on Hinge Without Paying?

You most certainly can. Since I have been using Hinge for the past year, I can genuinely say that I have loved using it and have noticed a lot of user engagement without having to pay a dime.

Hinge, in my opinion, has a very bright future and will continue to rule the dating app landscape.

Although Hinge obviously wants to make money like any other dating app, the point is that once you pay for Hinge, you will notice some improvements.

You may find that simply having access to more profiles makes a significant difference for you, or perhaps the main attraction is your extremely rigid set of preferences.

Why Hinge?

I have used Hinge pretty much continuously since it was released, but I haven’t gotten much in return. Why on earth did I decide to pay for it, then? I had to give Hinge a shot after discovering numerous TikTok videos claiming that the dating app hides all of your ideal matches from you behind its Hinge Premium paywall. I’ve experienced what other internet users have. I don’t really use Hinge because I never get any matches or meet anyone on there that I would be interested in. Also, I’m not trying to be too brief. Plenty of them are attractive people, but conversations seem to go nowhere, and no one seems to be really interested. At least on Bumble, the majority of my matches try to initiate a conversation with me.

After 30 days, upgrade your Hinge account if you’re still not seeing the success you believe you deserve. But only pay for the 1-month option. If you’re still not getting the results you desire after paying for a 30-day Hinge membership, it’s time you consider hiring some help.

Final Verdict

If you’ve tried other dating apps and Hinge is your favorite, I believe you’ll enjoy the app more if you purchase Hinge Preferred, but I wouldn’t say it’s necessary in any way. At the end of the day, I still prefer Bumble for the area that I live in, but I know if I ever move to a place where Hinge is more popular, I won’t be stuck single forever. The bottom line is that if paying for the app encouraged you to use it and put yourself out there, as it did for me, you’ll have a positive experience.
